If you are like us and have cats that are both inside and out, you may have the same problem we do. They seem to think that the beautiful soil in our raised beds is their personal toilet. There is nothing that grosses me out more than digging away in the dirt and coming across cat poop.
To combat the issue we use rodent mesh or chicken wire to cover the raised beds.
Today we were working in the kids garden clearing it out. R is a big help when working in the garden, he loves to use the shovel to dig weeds! He helped me lay down some scrap rodent mesh to stop the cats from getting into it.
So far the cats only use the raised beds, not the in-ground garden, thankfully.
If it was up to Leighton we wouldn’t have the cats anymore, but they do have their uses. A few years ago we had a vole issue in our gardens, since the cats have been around outside no more voles.
How do you keep pests out of the garden?
